As Russia attacked Ukraine on 6 July, three-year-old Tomash kept repeating the words his mum usually says to comfort him: “I’m with you, Mum. Don’t be scared.”
While Olha tried to get her son to safety, he tried to distract and reassure her throughout the attack. She later shared she only fully realised what he had been saying when she watched the video afterwards.
No child should grow up learning how to comfort their parent during a missile and drone attack. No parent should have to hear those words from their child because of war.
